What Your Tee Is Made Of: Every Ghostnote Blank, By The Numbers

Every blank behind Ghostnote's 123 pieces, named and weighed: tees from 142 to 206.8 g/m², hoodies from 220 to 339 g/m², the cap and the beanie. Plus what we do not claim.

Every garment on this site is printed on a blank another company made. Here is the list: the maker, the model number, the fabric weight in grams per square meter, and what each number does once it is on your body.

123 apparel products, fourteen blanks. Every figure below comes from the blank maker's published spec or from the listing of the print partner that prints it, checked against our live product data on 20 October 2026. No affiliate links.

The short answer: every blank, by weight

Fourteen blanks carry the whole apparel catalog. The count is how many products sit on each.

What gsm means when you are wearing it

Grams per square meter is what it sounds like: cut a square meter out of the cloth, put it on a scale, write down the number. The ounce figure is the same measurement in imperial units, so 4.2 oz/yd² and 142 g/m² are one cloth, not two.

Our lightest tee is 142 g/m² and our heaviest is 206.8, about 46% more cloth per square meter. Printful describes the first as soft and lightweight and the second as thick and structured. The hoodie fleece at 271.25 g/m² is roughly 1.9 times the weight of the light tee.

An adjective cannot do that work. Midweight, premium and heavy mean whatever the person writing the page needs them to mean that day. A number holds still, which is why this page gives one for every blank that has one published.

The tees

The largest group, 39 tees, prints on the Bella + Canvas 3001, at 4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²). Bella + Canvas lists it as 100% Airlume combed and ring-spun cotton, 32 singles, with Ash at 99% cotton and 1% polyester (BELLA+CANVAS 3001 spec). Printful's listing adds that heather colors contain polyester.

Ring-spun yarn is drawn out and twisted tight into a fine strand, smoother than the strand the cheaper open-end method makes. Combed means the short fibers were brushed out first, so fewer loose ends reach the surface: a softer face at the same weight.

Side-seamed means the body is cut as a front and a back panel joined down each side, as on the 3001. The alternative, a tubular body knitted as one tube, needs less sewing and costs less to make. Bella + Canvas, which has never made one, names torquing as one of the biggest issues with tubular tees: once the shirt is washed, the body can begin to twist, and side seams help keep a chest print centered (Bella+Canvas on side seams). The 3001 also carries shoulder-to-shoulder taping and comes pre-shrunk.

The Eat Sleep Beats Tee ($34.99) is on the 3001, in Black and Navy, XS to 2XL.

Three tees print on the Comfort Colors 1717, at 6.1 oz/yd² (206.8 g/m²), and heavyweight is the maker's own word for it. Comfort Colors names it the Adult Heavyweight Tee and lists garment-dyed ring-spun fabric, a relaxed fit tubular body, twill-taped neck and shoulders, a 7/8 in double-needle topstitched collar, and double-needle armhole, sleeve and bottom hems (Comfort Colors 1717 spec). That is why these three carry Heavyweight in their names.

Garment-dyed means the shirt is sewn first and dyed afterwards. Comfort Colors says its garments are pre-shrunk during the garment dye and wash processes, for almost no shrinkage at home.

The three, all S to 2XL: the Ghostnote Premium Heavyweight Tee (Dark Colors) at $34.99, in Black and Navy; the Ghostnote Premium Heavyweight Tee (Light Colors) at $34.99, in White, Gray and Orchid; and the Hustle | Embroidered Premium Heavyweight Tee at $34.99, in Black.

The fit is relaxed, not oversized. Comfort Colors calls it relaxed and Printful calls it a regular t-shirt style. At size M it measures 20.25 in across the chest laid flat, against 20 in for the Bella + Canvas 3001. Order your usual size, or one size up for a looser drape.

Eight women's-cut tees print on the Bella + Canvas 6400, the same 4.2 oz/yd² (142 g/m²) combed ring-spun cotton as the 3001, in a relaxed women's cut. Printful's listing gives it side seams, a crew neck and pre-shrunk fabric. They sit in our women's hip hop clothing collection.

The hoodies

Forty-four of our 57 hoodies print on the Gildan 18500 Heavy Blend, at 8.0 oz/yd² (271.25 g/m²). That is midweight fleece. It is a layer, not a coat. It carries a cold control room, a night bus and an October walk to the corner shop, and it will not do a February morning on its own.

The fit is classic, not oversized. Gildan calls it a classic fit and Printful calls it a regular fit. A size M measures 22 in across the chest laid flat and is cut for a 42 to 45 in chest, so order your usual size, and one size up if you want it loose over layers.

The construction, from Gildan's page and Printful's listing: air-jet spun yarn for a soft feel and reduced pilling; a double-lined hood with a matching drawcord; a quarter-turned body, so no fold crease runs down the middle of your chest; 1 × 1 athletic rib at cuffs and waistband with spandex, for stretch and recovery; a front pouch pocket; double-needle stitching at collar, shoulders, armholes, cuffs and hem (Printful Gildan 18500 listing).

The composition depends on the color, and Gildan publishes both figures. Its own page lists solids at 50% U.S. cotton and 50% polyester, and heathers at 40% U.S. cotton and 60% polyester (Gildan 18500 spec). Printful's listing names one color at 40/60, Heather Sport Dark Navy, and none of our 44 Gildan hoodies is stocked in a Heather Sport color.

On the Eat Sleep Beats Producer Hoodie ($49.99), Black, Navy and Beige (Gildan's Sand) are solid colors, so they are the 50/50; our Navy is Gildan's solid Navy. Gray prints on the blank's Sport Grey. Sizes run S to 3XL in Black, Navy and Beige, and S to 2XL in Gray.

Four more hoodies sit on three other blanks, all in the table and all a little heavier, at 8.25 to 8.5 oz/yd². One fit note matters more than the weight: the Cotton Heritage M2580, used on two of them, runs small. Printful's listing and both product pages say to order one size up.

One hoodie is a true heavyweight. The GN Athletic Dept. Oversized Hoodie ($59.99) prints on the Bella + Canvas 4719, at 10 oz/yd² (339 g/m²): 60% combed ring-spun cotton and 40% polyester, brushed inside, with a double-layered hood and no drawcords. Bella + Canvas cuts it roomy and sells it as oversized, so this is the one hoodie where your usual size already hangs loose.

The women's cropped hoodies go the other way. Eight print on the Bella + Canvas 7502, at 6.5 oz/yd² (220.39 g/m²), 52% cotton and 48% polyester fleece, with dropped shoulders, a cropped body with a raw hem and drawstrings dyed to match.

The cap and the beanie

The Eat Sleep Beats Cap ($29.99) is an Otto Cap 31-069: 65% polyester and 35% cotton twill, a structured mid-profile five-panel with a slightly curved visor, a matching undervisor and a plastic snap closure, one size fits most. Structured means the front panel is backed with buckram, a stiffened cloth, which Otto says gives it a firm, defined shape that holds its form (Otto Cap 31-069 spec). That front panel is where the graphic sits.

Twelve beanies, the 808 Sound Beanie ($29.99) among them, are the Yupoong 1501KC: 100% Turbo Acrylic, 12 in (30 cm) long, hypoallergenic, unisex, hand washable, one size.

How the graphic gets on the garment

Direct-to-garment (DTG) jets water-based ink onto pre-treated cloth, so the print sinks into the fibers; dark shirts get a white underbase first. Printful, which prints ours, says a fresh DTG print can feel slightly rough until it has been washed a few times, and that with the care instructions followed it will not crack or peel, though colors can lose a little vibrancy over many washes (Printful on DTG and DTF). The Eat Sleep Beats Tee and the Premium Heavyweight Tee (Dark Colors) are printed this way.

Direct-to-film (DTF) prints the graphic onto a film with water-based ink, coats it with adhesive powder and heat-presses it on, so it sits on the cloth as a thin layer. Printful says it can feel slightly stiff at first, wears in after a few washes, and works on fleece and blends as well as cotton. The Eat Sleep Beats hoodie, the Premium Heavyweight Tee (Light Colors) and the cap use it. Printful's care advice: wash and iron inside out, and avoid very hot water, which can crack the design.

Embroidery is thread stitched through the cloth, so there is no ink layer at all. The Hustle tee is embroidered at the left chest, the beanies on the front.

What we do not claim

A page like this is worth nothing if it lists only the flattering half.

We do not knit, weave, sew or print any of it. All 123 of our apparel products are printed by our print partners, on the makers' blanks named above. We choose the blank and the graphic that goes on it.

Where the blanks come from. Printful's listings name where each blank it prints for us is sourced: Nicaragua, Mexico, Honduras or the US for the Bella + Canvas 3001 tee; Nicaragua, Honduras or the US for the women's 6400 tee; Honduras for the Comfort Colors tee; Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Honduras or El Salvador for the Gildan hoodie; Bangladesh for the Stanley/Stella and Cotton Heritage tees; Pakistan for the Lane Seven, Independent and Cotton Heritage hoodie blanks; Nicaragua for the Bella + Canvas 4719 hoodie; Mexico, Nicaragua or the US for the 7502 cropped hoodie; Vietnam, Bangladesh or the Republic of Korea for the beanie; China and Myanmar for the cap.

Two blanks carry no published fabric weight. No spec we found, from the maker or from Printful, gives one for the Yupoong beanie or the Otto cap. We will not print a number we cannot point at.

Three weights do not convert cleanly, so we show them as published. Cotton Heritage gives the MC1082 tee as 5.5 oz, about 186 g/m², where Printful lists 180 (Cotton Heritage MC1082 spec). Independent Trading Co. gives the SS4500 as 8.5 oz and 280 g/m² on one page, though 8.5 oz is about 288 (Independent SS4500 spec). Cotton Heritage gives the M2580 hoodie as 8.5 oz, about 288 g/m², and Printful lists no weight for it (Cotton Heritage M2580 spec). Each gap is a few percent; we would rather show it than round it away.

We state no cotton ratio for our Gray hoodies. They print on Gildan's Sport Grey, which neither source names: Printful's listing gives 50/50 with one named exception, Heather Sport Dark Navy, and Gildan's page gives 40/60 for heathers without listing them.

The heaviest tee is the one with no side seams. Comfort Colors lists a tubular body for the 1717, the construction Bella + Canvas says can torque after washing. We chose the 1717 for its weight and its garment dye and took that trade with it.

What the blend does, in both directions. Polyester in the hoodie fleece resists shrinking and dries faster; the spandex in the rib is what pulls cuffs and hem back into shape. The cost is odor: cotton soaks up the water in sweat, while polyester takes up more of the oily compounds that turn smelly, which a University of Alberta study found is why cotton clothing tends to smell less than synthetic clothing after being worn (University of Alberta on fibers and odor). A 100% cotton tee does the reverse, and it is the one more likely to shrink in the dryer, where Cotton Incorporated found the tumbling, not the heat setting, drives the shrinkage (Cotton Incorporated shrinkage guide). Different cloths, not better and worse ones.

Two supplier warnings, repeated. Printful's listing for the Bella + Canvas 3001 notes that the fabric is slightly sheer and may look see-through, especially in lighter colors. The beanie's product page carries the supplier's notice that it releases plastic microfibers into the environment during washing.

Washing it

Care lives in three guides rather than here. How to wash 50/50 hoodies covers the blend above. How to wash graphic tees without cracking the print covers printed graphics. How to wash streetwear is the general routine.

Sizing, delivery and returns

Each product page lists its own size range. Every tee and hoodie page has a Size chart button beside the size picker, with the garment's measured chest width and length in inches and centimeters, which beats a size letter.

Most orders arrive in 4 to 14 days, depending on your location. Returns and exchanges are open for 14 days, the garment needs to be in as-new condition, and return shipping is free.

Frequently asked

What does gsm mean on a t-shirt?

Grams per square meter: the weight of one square meter of the fabric. It lets you compare how much cloth is in a garment, independent of brand or fit. Ounces per square yard is the same measurement in imperial units, so 4.2 oz/yd² and 142 g/m² are one cloth. For the same fiber and knit, a higher number usually reads as thicker and more opaque.

What blanks does Ghostnote print on?

Fourteen blanks carry our 123 apparel products. The most used are the Bella + Canvas 3001 at 142 g/m² for 39 tees, the Comfort Colors 1717 at 206.8 g/m² for the three garment-dyed heavyweight tees, and the Gildan 18500 at 271.25 g/m² for 44 hoodies. The full table is at the top of this page.

Is the Ghostnote hoodie heavy?

It is midweight. The Gildan 18500 fleece on 44 of our 57 hoodies is 8.0 oz/yd², or 271.25 g/m². For scale, Independent Trading Co., which makes one of our other hoodie blanks, sells its 8.5 oz fleece as midweight and its 10 oz fleece as heavyweight. Four others are a little heavier, at 8.25 to 8.5 oz/yd². The GN Athletic Dept. Oversized Hoodie is heavier still, at 10 oz/yd², and the eight women's cropped hoodies are lighter, at 6.5 oz/yd².

Is 142 gsm too thin for a t-shirt?

It is a light tee. Printful describes the Bella + Canvas 3001 as soft and lightweight and notes that the fabric is slightly sheer, especially in lighter colors. It suits warm days and layering. For more cloth, the three Comfort Colors heavyweight tees are 206.8 g/m².

What size should I order?

For most of the line, your usual size. The Gildan 18500 hoodies are a classic fit: your usual size, or one up if you want it loose over layers. The three Comfort Colors 1717 tees are a relaxed fit, not an oversized one: your usual size, or one up for a looser drape. The exceptions say so on their size charts: the Cotton Heritage M2580, on two hoodies, runs small, so order one size up, and Printful's size guides tell US customers to size up on the two Stanley/Stella tees, which use European sizing. If it lands wrong, returns and exchanges are open for 14 days and return shipping is free.

Figures checked against our live product data, each maker's published spec and our print partners' listings on 23 September 2026; product counts and the three Bella + Canvas blanks added since were checked on 20 October 2026. If one does not match a product page, tell us and we will check both.
