Under the hood

How TALISMAN compresses and saturates

01

Two compressors, in series

GRIT is a fast FET-style peak compressor that adds attitude. WARMTH is a slow optical that glues without pumping. Each does one job.

INGRIT · FET WARMTH · OPTOSATOUT
02

Tube to tape, clean

The saturator morphs from warm tube through transformer to bright tape, processed at 4x oversampling so the color stays free of aliasing.

03

Loudness-honest AUTO

AUTO keeps output level-matched to input, so more DRIVE means more character, not just louder. TAME softens sibilance before the saturation.

04

ADVANCED when you want it

Open the panel and it becomes a full two-stage compressor: threshold, ratio, attack and release for both stages, plus sidechain HPF. Loops, drums and 808s welcome.

Questions

Straight answers

What does TALISMAN do to a rap vocal?

It puts the voice out front and keeps it there. Two compressors in series even out the level so quiet ad-libs and hard punches sit at the same weight, then the saturator adds the tube-to-tape thickness that helps a rap vocal cut through a loud beat.

Can I use it on 808s, drums and loops?

Yes. Open the ADVANCED panel and TALISMAN becomes a full two-stage compressor with threshold, ratio, attack, release and a sidechain high-pass. That makes it as at home on an 808, a drum bus or a loop as it is on vocals.

Do I need to know compressor settings to use it?

No. The front panel is five macro knobs and fourteen presets. Pick a preset that fits the voice and turn DRIVE for more character. The deep controls are there when you want them, hidden when you do not.

Does TALISMAN work in FL Studio?

Yes. TALISMAN installs as a VST3 on Windows and macOS and as an Audio Unit on macOS, so it loads in FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, Studio One, Cubase, REAPER and any other VST3 or AU host.

How do I install it?

Run the installer and rescan plugins in your DAW. On macOS the version 1.0 installer is not notarized by Apple yet, so approve it once under Privacy and Security, or right-click the installer and choose Open. The bundled notes show the exact steps for your macOS version.

Do I need a license key, an iLok, or an account?

None of them. The plugin is keyless. Download it, install it on every computer you own, and it works. There is nothing to activate and nothing to log into.
